Purpose
Our Vision
To advance economies and leave a generational legacy of clean waterways, fertile soil, and enhanced quality of life through material science.
Our Mission
To provide the purest carbon solutions that empower industries to innovate while preserving natural resources and reducing CO2 emissions.
We use a patented disruptive technology
We convert non-merchantable waste wood into carbon that strengthens chemical synthesis, binds toxins from the environment for a half-life of 17,000 years and increases crop yield. Producing carbon solutions to emerging technologies enables us to reimagine the future where industries thrive responsibly in a rapidly changing world.
By fostering partnerships and driving innovation, we aim to create value for our customers, employees, and communities while contributing to a brighter and cleaner future for generations to come.

The Problem
Improper disposal of waste. Railroad ties, wood pallets, construction waste wood and beetle kill are examples of what ends up in our overburdened landfills, they emit harmful pollutants when burned or greenhouse gases in decomposition.
Industrial Materials Development
Current practices can lead to resource depletion, pollution, contamination and habitat destruction.
Global Population Growth
Industries are forced to amplify their efforts to meet growing demand, which results in the depletion of natural resources, a rise in pollution levels, and difficulty to meet increased food production.
Consumer Expectations & Government Regulations
Mounting pressure is being applied to corporations to use environmentally conscious practices yet lack effective and affordable solutions to address this challenge.
Most Biochar Products Today
Inferior quality and purity levels in most biochar restrict applications and often fail to address the needs of various industries.
The Solution
High carbon content biochar. Biochar is a carbon-rich material produced from the thermal decomposition of biomass that converts waste wood into a valuable resource via pyrolysis.
Wide Application Spectrum
Our biochar has many different use cases, including graphene & lithium production, soil restoration, water remediation, and livestock feed.
Unmatched Purity & Versatility
With a consistent 88-92% purity level together with the effect of the electric charge, our patents produce a “live carbon” that has superior performance and applicability across many industries and environmental solutions. Our competitors can get up to 60% pure and have far fewer applications in technology and remediation.
Cleaner Emissions Process
Through disruptive technology and with EPA approval, we make high-quality carbon with minimal environmental impact.
Process
We produce premium-quality biochar.
Biochar is a carbon-rich material powerful for CO2 storage, soil improvement, and increasing industrial material performance, all while diverting waste wood from landfills and preventing the emission of greenhouse gasses during the waste wood decomposition process. Biochar is produced from the pyrolysis of biomass (such as wood, crop residues, or organic waste). We have developed, perfected, and patented a ‘pyrolysis’ technology.
What is pyrolysis?
A process which operates kilns at approximately 1250 degrees Fahrenheit under a vacuum without oxygen. The process produces clean emissions while generating pure organic carbon from wood cellulose (waste wood). The process is unique in that it incorporates both “cation and anion exchange” properties into the carbon, which allows for the binding of specific toxins and salts meanwhile permitting advantageous nutrients to be bio-available to flora. This is our competitive advantage over other biochar, our carbon is live and can bind molecules and nutrients.

Living Carbon
A solution with powerful capabilities to grow, purify, heal and energize. Biochar is a picture of the earth healing itself, beauty in simplicity.
Industrial Materials
Premium-grade biochar can also be used in industrial materials and construction to modify thermodynamic properties and reduce density.
Toxic Remediation
Premium-grade biochar is an excellent carbon sink. It acts as a natural reservoir that absorbs and stores carbon dioxide and solves toxic clean-up problems in polluted water, mining, and oil and gas.
Agribusiness
Premium-grade biochar improves soil fertility, increases plant productivity by 2-3x and dramatically increases nutrient and water retention. It can also be added to animal feed to increase growth, decrease antibiotics and reduce methane emission.

The long pores provide significant surface area. One gram of Carbon Nexus biochar has a surface area of about 400m2 (the size of a basketball court). Our patented process produces biochar with a cation exchange capacity that electrostatically attracts certain types of molecules in the soil, air and/or water. The molecules are bonded to the biochar walls where roots can access them throughout the growing season. The biochar becomes a nutrient-rich, time-release capsule for plants and is a major reason why our biochar is so effective enhancing plant growth.
Carbon Nexus biochar has been tested for water sequestration and found to hold 5.6 times its weight in water and because the pores are very long compared to their openings, there is very little evaporation. When roots do not consume the sequestered water, it is held for long periods of time.
To soil microbes, cleaned out biochar pores look like a concrete condominium so they move in to set up a community. Once embedded, they are protected from precipitation that would otherwise disperse them. With our patented process, the microbes living in the biochar pores flourish and help create living soil.
Toxic Remediation
Due to its cation exchange capacity, the heavy metal removal results are often exceptional with our biochar as a result of extensive third party testing. Interestingly, once toxic substances are attracted and bonded to the biochar walls, they are considered to be encapsulated and will not leave on their own. Even plant roots will not take up the bound toxins.
Nutrients
Nutrients are an important adsorptive category for Carbon Nexus biochar. At times, the data is important for nutrient availability (for plants) and other times it’s important for nutrient removal (field runoffs and waterways). In both cases our biochar is an excellent performer. Our porous bags with nutrient-laden biochar can be recovered and used in gardens and ag fields for improved plant growth and microbial activity.
Solids
When our biochar is loaded in porous bags and placed in a nutrient polluted lake, pond or river, the natural currents will flow the water through the bag and biochar. Solids will be physically filtered due to the jagged exterior of biochar. The physical removal of algae blooms (turbidity) and clay (solids) by biochar is very effective. Interestingly, once toxic substances are attracted and bonded to the biochar walls, they are considered to be encapsulated and will not leave on their own. Even plant roots will not take up the bound toxins.

Water Sequestration
Water holding is a very important property of our biochar because of drought conditions exacerbated by climate change. Carbon Nexus’ biochar holds 5.6 times its weight in water and the water is always root-available. Evaporation is negligible due to the long, narrow pores with very small openings at the ends.
